A world of change, a world of uncertainty.
These days, with newspapers and television programs telling the story of our society’s current economic malaise, and faced with our own individual financial situations, it is easy to hear words coming from the mouths of friends and family carrying expressions of doubt, worry and fear. As many know, these are reactions to, and are caused by stress. When we find ourselves in this kind of situation, what actions do we take, or what help do we seek from others?
Symptoms of stress include exhaustion, loss of appetite, increased appetite, headaches, crying, sleeplessness, and oversleeping. Escape through alcohol, drugs, or other compulsive behaviors occur when feelings of alarm or frustration arise. Naturally, a common way of dealing with stress is to talk to other people. Experts tell us that stress is a reaction to events and problems, and while you can lock yourself away in a solitary effort to work on it, seeking an outside perspective and comparing it with your own can lessen your reaction to these conditions. (We believe this is why television use is so common - simply turn on the “tube”, watch a show, and get a healthy dose of distraction. It works - temporarily).
But for lightworkers and energy healers, when speaking to others, caution must be advised - it has been said that we must choose our words carefully, because as many have stated, we are creating our reality - moment by moment. Our thoughts and words tell a story. What story do we wish to tell, in light of a difficult situation? Do we tell it like it is, or do we tell it like we want it to be?
Balance is the key for many. Native Americans believe that in order to be mentally healthy, one’s mind, heart and spirit must be in alignment. This means that mind, heart and spirit are meant to be in balance. The belief is that when all three are equally weighed, one can walk the path of life with far less stress.
So, as we establish a foundation upon which we can build a platform of hope and optimism, it helps to remember that our true essence is light and love. Our nature is good, our hearts are pure, and our intentions are filled with integrity. We owe it to ourselves to find the evidence of it. It also helps to remember that we are far more powerful than we believe ourselves to be.

Chris Rock, on a recent episode of The Actors Studio, tells of an early time in his life when he was “called” to do stand-up comedy and try out his stuff at a local comedy club. He talks about standing in a long ticket line at Radio City Music Hall, and while reading the New York Times, a comedy club listing caught his attention. He then decided to leave the ticket line and walk 25 blocks (on a cold February day) to a one-in seven chance of going on stage that night, and winning the opportunity.
As they say, “chance” would have it that Chris went on stage that night, did pretty well, and then was asked to continue, and to work there every night. From that point on, things accelerated for Chris, and it brought him to levels of success he can now talk about on a television interview. All starting from a point where he was “called”.
A chance moment in time, a chance moment of connection, a chance moment of a calling to action. And then, there is an agreement to follow. Do we not all have these things in our lives? Are they loud? – do they knock us off our feet (sometimes literally…) or, are they a whisper? Can we hear them? Are we ready to hear them? Are we ready to follow? Is this what they call a guided life? What is this place?
Some of us consider ourselves to be subtle. Others not so much. Some of us can get quiet for a minute or two. Others can do it more often, where thoughts of reflection can emerge and ideas bubble out. Some of us take time intentionally to get quiet, to discover new places within while sitting quietly, and some of us focus on the peace as we go. Some discover through talking, others through writing. All of these times, clarity is beckoning.
Chris Rock’s story implies an accidental meeting with his fate, and yes, a willingness to respond ensued. Our question is: Can this phenomenon be re-created at will? If you believe in serendipity, where gifts and blessings exist, can we humbly summon these angels and achieve the movement we seek? They say opportunity knocks, but can we call / ask /pray for the knock to occur?
Perhaps the movement has already occurred in-between the said remarks. They say that our thoughts create our reality. Big concept indeed, but how does this machine really work? For me, I want to put myself in a place where the calls can be heard. There are many of them. My life is created moment by moment. The call can be a loud one, and it can also be as faint as following the mist on a winter morning.
I don’t care if it is loud or not; I just want to hear it, and respond.
A Google search for the term “personal development” yields a fairly common perspective consisting of having the maturity to take 100% responsibility for your health, your career, your finances, your relationships, your emotions, your habits, and your spiritual beliefs. It requires taking a hard look at yourself, consciously deciding what kind of person you truly are on the inside, and then getting your actions to be congruent with your true self.
Considering also that personal development has been covered recently on popular television programs like Oprah and Ellen, it is only a matter of time before we will be seeing it in the Sunday Newspaper (in the Living Section, no doubt). But what if we understand ourselves to be Energy Workers or Lightworkers? When will this discussion appear on CNN? Will it be in 2012…?
The realm of Energy Healing and Alternative Counseling indicates that we are incredibly magnificent, powerful, eternal Beings of Love and Light who Choose on a higher (not personality) level all aspects of this particular life-walk including our family of origin, our relationships, careers, timelines, challenges, health, wealth, joys, and manifestation of all kinds. Action congruent with true self requires a higher understanding of self, a deeper communication with Spirit, and a foundation of connection with the larger, non-physical inner being that we are.
Energetic Personal Development points to something more, something deeper, something more in alignment with Love. It builds upon the common definition and moves us to another level. When life’s experiences cause us to reach beyond the apparent 3-D reality (and beyond our thoughts), and as we begin (or continue) our dialogue with Inner Light, it is at this point that we discover the profound path of the lightworker. Our experiences have shown us that there is no end to the uplifting quality and perfection this perspective can offer. How good can we make it? How fantastic can we create a better life? What power lies within us to create optimal health, financial abundance and inspiring, healthy friendships?
Wouldn’t it be nice?
