A world of change, a world of uncertainty.

These days, with newspapers and television programs telling the story of our society’s current economic malaise, and faced with our own individual financial situations, it is easy to hear words coming from the mouths of friends and family carrying expressions of doubt, worry and fear. As many know, these are reactions to, and are caused by stress. When we find ourselves in this kind of situation, what actions do we take, or what help do we seek from others?

Symptoms of stress include exhaustion, loss of appetite, increased appetite, headaches, crying, sleeplessness, and oversleeping. Escape through alcohol, drugs, or other compulsive behaviors occur when feelings of alarm or frustration arise. Naturally, a common way of dealing with stress is to talk to other people. Experts tell us that stress is a reaction to events and problems, and while you can lock yourself away in a solitary effort to work on it, seeking an outside perspective and comparing it with your own can lessen your reaction to these conditions. (We believe this is why television use is so common - simply turn on the “tube”, watch a show, and get a healthy dose of distraction. It works - temporarily).

But for lightworkers and energy healers, when speaking to others, caution must be advised - it has been said that we must choose our words carefully, because as many have stated, we are creating our reality - moment by moment. Our thoughts and words tell a story. What story do we wish to tell, in light of a difficult situation? Do we tell it like it is, or do we tell it like we want it to be?

Balance is the key for many. Native Americans believe that in order to be mentally healthy, one’s mind, heart and spirit must be in alignment. This means that mind, heart and spirit are meant to be in balance. The belief is that when all three are equally weighed, one can walk the path of life with far less stress.

So, as we establish a foundation upon which we can build a platform of hope and optimism, it helps to remember that our true essence is light and love. Our nature is good, our hearts are pure, and our intentions are filled with integrity. We owe it to ourselves to find the evidence of it. It also helps to remember that we are far more powerful than we believe ourselves to be.
